Prioritize their oral health with our state-of-the-art equipment.

Professional dental care is just as important for pets as it is for people. Unfortunately, many pet parents overlook this vital service. Without professional dental care, most cats and dogs develop some degree of periodontal disease by the age of three. And when left untreated, the consequences can be dire.

Here at Dr. Oliver’s Veterinary Services Ltd., we provide mobile pet dentistry on Salt Spring Island and encourage our existing clients to reach out to us to schedule dental appointments for their furry friends.

Dental Care for Pets

The AAHA recommends annual dental cleanings for dogs and cats. However, we’ve found that smaller dogs require more frequent cleanings than larger breeds, and some cat breeds are more predisposed to dental disease than others. When you choose us, we’ll examine your pet and discuss their medical history with you to determine how frequently you should schedule dental appointments for them.

We use general anesthesia for all dental procedures. Our mobile vet clinic is outfitted with state-of-the-art dental and aesthetic equipment for your pet’s comfort and safety, and we take great care to maintain our patients’ oral health.

Our Dental Process

We usually divide dental procedures into two parts: a thorough dental cleaning followed by an oral health exam. In most cases, we schedule separate appointments for extractions. If your pet only needs one extraction and the anesthetic time allows for safe extraction, we may remove the tooth without scheduling a separate appointment.

We prioritize our patients’ safety, so we limit the time they’re under anesthesia. Minimizing anesthesia time reduces the risk of complications.

We can also help ensure your pet receives appropriate dental care at home using pet-safe toothpaste and toothbrushes, dental treats, and toys.

Please note that clients are not permitted inside our mobile clinic during x-rays or surgery except in very limited circumstances. This ensures your and your pet’s safety. You’re welcome to visit your pet once they’ve recovered from anesthesia and are no longer disoriented.
